Donation Summary: Meet the Gout Family

The Fallen Officer:
23-year-old Gom Gout was a security guard at Moe and Curly's Pub. He was shot and killed while trying to break up a fight in May 2023 near 10th and Capitol streets in the Capitol District in Omaha, NE.
The Circumstance:
23-year-old Gout was working his part-time security guard job Sunday morning in Omaha’s Capitol District when a fight broke out among multiple women.
“He came out to break it up. He did that. And then we allege that after that was all over with, everybody was separated, that the defendant pulled a gun out of her purse, held it out. He approached with his hands up, saying ‘C’mon. Let’s just settle down.’ And she shot him,” said Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine.
Mission Accomplished:
GBH was alerted to the incident the day that it occurred. President Curtis DeBerg reached out to the family and contacted Gom’s brother, Sol Gout.
Curtis explained to Sol that GBH exists and was here to help his family during the time of loss. From there, Curtis met with the family at their home in Omaha and delivered a check in-person.
GBH President Curtis DeBerg issued a check to the Gout family in an expedited fashion to help the family as soon as possible.
